Pseudo liposarcomatous plasma cells in a patient with liposarcoma and lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma

چکیده
First, patients may always develop a second severe illness, even a second cancer. Second, things are not always as they are expected to be. So, careful diagnosis is mandatory. Third, morphology is very important, but sometimes misleading. Always be aware of morphological variants!

Concomitant lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma and plasma cell myeloma, a diagnostic challenge.
BACKGROUND Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma and plasma cell myeloma are two B cell lymphoproliferative neoplasms derived from mature B-lymphocytes in different differentiation stages. The coexistence of these two tumors in the same patient is exceedingly rare and can be difficult to diagnose. CASE PRESENTATION A 76-year-old male presented with a pathologic fracture after a fall. Radiography showed ...
متن کاملPRDM1 expression levels in marginal zone lymphoma and lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma
PRDM1 (BLIMP1) is a transcription repressor protein shown to be involved in B-cell differentiation into plasma cells. Marginal zone lymphomas (MZL) and lymphoplasmacytic lymphomas (LPL) are B cell lymphomas that both show some degree of plasmacytic differentiation and thus can sometimes constitute a difficult differential diagnosis. In this study, we investigated if MZL and LPL have abnormaliti...
متن کاملPrimary cold agglutinin-associated lymphoproliferative disease: a B-cell lymphoma of the bone marrow distinct from lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
Primary chronic cold agglutinin disease is a rare hemolytic disease mediated by monoclonal IGHV4-34-encoded cold agglutinins with a predominant specificity for the blood group antigen I. Bone marrow from 54 patients was studied to type the underlying lymphoproliferative disorder better. Bone marrow biopsies showed circumscribed intra-parenchymatous nodules with small monotonous monoclonal B cel...
متن کاملCutaneous amyloidosis as the first presentation of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia
Background: Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia is a lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma with elevated serum immunoglobulin M and multi-organ involvement. Primary systemic amyloidosis usually develops due to immunoglobulin light chains depositions in different organs due to an underlying gammopathy. Case presentation: Our patient was an 86-year-old man with macroglossia, ecchymotic patches and bullous lesion...
متن کاملNuclear protein dysregulation in lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma/waldenstrom macroglobulinemia.
Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) is characterized by monoclonal gammopathy, usually IgM, in association with lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL). Little is known of the expression of nuclear proteins involved in B-cell development in LPL/WM. In this study, the expression patterns of PAX5/BSAP, MUM1/IRF4, and PRDM1/BLIMP1 were analyzed in plasma cells and lymphocytes in 29 cases of newly diagnose...
